A multicultural celebration of the Buddha Birth, Enlightenment and Passing


Sangha Dana, Vesak Procession and Commemorations in the city and Heart of Melbourne.
10am - 3.30pm, Saturday 4 May
Free Event - All Welcome

Join with us to celebrate one of the most important days in the Buddhist Calendar and together commemorate the Buddha universal peace message for the world.


Program:

  • Sangha Dana Lunch Offering:

    10am, St Peters Eastern Hill Anglican Church Hall, 15 Gisborne Street, East Melbourne.

  • Vesak Procession and Friendship Walk

    In the Heart of Melbourne with Traditional Drummers, Buddha Floats, Flags, Lanterns, the colours of Victoria Buddhist Community.

    Starts at 1pm - Parliament Gardens Reserve (assemble from 12.15pm) Corner of Nicholson Street Extension (diagonally opposite The Princess Theatre) and Albert Streets, East Melbourne.

    Procession proceeds along Spring Street and Collins Street to the Melbourne Town Hall. Corner of Swanston and Collins. Public and metro car parking nearby.

    Free vegetarian lunch packs available.

  • Vesak Official Commemoration

    Between 1.30 to 3.30pm Melbourne Town Hall. (corner Swanston and Collins Streets) Veneration of the Buddha Relics.
